Take a Walk for Your Health

Yesterday was a glorious day for a walk on the beach. Besides getting some great exercise, the sound and smell of the ocean helped me clear my mind and relax. Collecting seashells while walking actually boosts my creativity.

Other places a person can take a refreshing walk include nature centers, botanical gardens, a local park, or just in your own neighborhood. Take the dog, take the kids, take your mate. Just get out there as soon as the weather permits.

Did you know walking can help you:

Lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol)
Raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol)
Lower your blood pressure
Reduce your risk of or manage type 2 diabetes
Manage your weight
Improve your mood
Stay strong and fit
